Dongala Muta Movie Review

Dongala MutaAttempt is to make a film (if it can be called so) in just 5 days with a small crew of 7; many were impressed by the novel idea of Ramgopal Varma. Result is the film Dongala Muta released today with a buzz equivalent to star hero’s movie release. What could be the final output? Did this flick really match the standards of RGV? Answers might be quite disturbing. A single statement by famous critic (anonymity promised), ‘This Dongala Muta is ineligible for reviewing’ speaks on a whole about what kind of dish RGV cooked with all his experience.
In simple, Dongala Muta can’t be called as a film (in fact Telugu film) because it can be better rated as a trial by RGV to show how easy film making has become? Neither do we require a story nor do we require whole bunch of technicians. What it requires is Canon 5D cameras and FX School members to run here and there following the artists. Dongala Muta starts off with a couple Sudheer & Rani (Raviteja & Charmi) taken a short cut route to reach their friend’s wedding. Their car breaks down in middle and they land up taking Room no. 8 in old Bhoot Bangla kind of resort in mid afternoon. Three men (Subba Raju, Supreet and Brahmaji) claim themselves workers at resort have a different plan with kidnapped businessman Narayana Murthy (Brahmanandam) hidden in Room no. 9. Later on arrives daring lady Shiva (Lakshmi Prasanna) and her associate Richards (Sunil) as cops to reveal the mystery followed by Don Munna Bhai (Prakashraj), the man behind kidnap drama. How Sudheer and Rani help Shiva in saving Narayana Murthy is the story.
In simple entire drama spans less than 1 hour 25 minutes and you never feel of enjoyed a film. If nearly 30 to 40 minutes of Dongala Muta is allocated for hide and seek between the above characters, we might get 20 minutes of dialogues. Of the remaining we get 5 minutes for camera focusing on hot top and bottom assets of Charmi and rest for other non sense stuff. This is what Dongala Muta in totality.
Idea of RGV was not to make a film and I feel he was trying to fulfill his zeal of showing contemporary Telugu cine goers an intention of offering a so called ‘film’ in shortest period of time. But he ends up cheating the audience selling his product at damage of his brand name. If purpose of Dongala Muta was only to make profits, then RGV succeeded as theatre was more than half filled. This idea can never be re-worked either by himself or by others.
Normally creator starts off with a story line then develops it into a fullfledged story working on characterizations and their importance followed by technical crew, cast, budget and then finishing the product as per the schedules to release it on time. Surely Dongala Muta is RGV’s tracking from back. First he got the budget and number of working days in mind then got the characters and story cooked up.
Strictly speaking characters of Sunil, Brahmaji find no importance in story. Suggestion is that RGV could have done this movie even with out them. But Ramu needs shining star cast to attract audience and Sunil is obviously best crowd puller. First requirement for a movie to excel is ‘content’ and Dongala Muta fails. If so I call this a movie, then it might be an insult to RGV himself. No complaints and no remarks, why not the creative genius take one or two months of working days and bring quality products like his earlier milestone movies instead of testing this kind of junk stuff.

KSD Appalraju Movie Review

KSD Appalraju Movie Review
Behind the Movie: Ramgopal Varma’s comeback Telugu film with Sunil in the lead is the continuous attention grabber from the moment it was launched. Being publicized as a satire on Tollywood, KSD Appalraju arrived today in theatres. Let us see, how strong was Varma’s Katha, Screenplay, Darsakathvam?
In the Movie: Appalraju (Sunil) is a die hard Telugu movie lover and an avid movie buff in Amalapuram living with only dream to direct a Telugu film and raise the standards of our Telugu cinema. Challenging his father Uppalraju (Chalapathi Rao), Appalraju arrives in Hyderabad landing up in Krishna Nagar.
In the very first meeting, Appalraju impresses film producer Rakhi (Raghu Babu) and his creative head Pushpanand (Harshavardhan) with the tragic, heroine oriented story of ‘Nayaki.’ With in no time, team of assistant directors Gogineni Venkata Ramana (MS Narayana), Rudra Veena (Tameem), Annamacharya (Suman Shetty) and Krishna (Colors Swathi) join director Appalraju.
Next task is to find right casting as famous heroine Kanishka (Sakshi Gulati), her love interest Babu Garu (Adarsh) agree to do the film and Mega Max head  Data Base (Krishna Bhagawan) agrees to finance the project. Calculations go wrong, Kanishka gets into a naughty quarrel with Babu Garu and they are separated disturbing the entire project. Time when financiers step back, Kanishka ropes in another top hero KT (Ajay), an opponent hero of Babu Garu and local goonda Sri Sailam (Brahmanandam) becomes financier and lyricist while Rahman Sharma (Ali) is the music director for ‘Nayaki.’
Bowing before all the demands of this big crew, Appalraju completes ‘Nayaki’ and gets it ready for release opposite Babu Garu’s film ‘Pranam Teestha’ which had the backing of media criminal No Brain EV (Raja Ravindra), top distributor Onti Kannu Gavarraju (Kota) and senior director Y. Venkat (Tanikella).  What happens next? Did Appalraju’s film ‘Nayaki’ win the Sankranthi race? Is Appalraju satisfied with the judgment of audience? form the climax.
Values & Out of the Movie: Basic theme visualized by Ramgopal Varma is to showcase the inner troubles and hurdles in directing a movie, completing it in time and releasing it to win the appreciations of audience. Though the line was clear, Ramgopal Varma rolled out a senseless product that never looked appealing. Neither there was script nor was direction. Entire movie was a big mess with lengthy, boring, painful scenes. Not even for five minutes that audiences get involved into the story and get into the groove of Varma. It will be more apt to title this flick as ‘Pappularaju’ or ‘Thippalaraju’ or ‘Chippalaraju’ rather than ‘Appalraju.’
Neither there was conviction in story telling nor an element of genuineness in Varma’s effort. Audiences continuously drain their energies getting out from theatres dragging their feet with discontent. Especially comedy between Brahmi, Tanu Rai; episodes between Sunil, Harshavardhan, Colors Swathi; final cheap tricks of Babu Garu’s villain team to burn the negative of ‘Nayaki’ is such a low grade stuff which is never expected from an intellectual brain like RGV.
Every attempt by Sunil to save Appalraju was devastated by co-artists. He was the only artist in the film tried to play his character authentically. Special appearance of Raviteja is an absolute waste. Apparently RGV explained the core message of his film with voice over in the very first scene with Comedy Vs Tragedy dichotomy but there were no such strong points plotted in the entire movie.
Finally RGV seems to have not only insulted the tastes of Telugu audience by making tragedy ‘Nayaki’ treated as comedy flick but also sent a strong message to new directors entering into the field about the possible humiliations to face, is the one and only positive outcome of Appalraju. Strictly speaking Appalraju isn’t worth a flick to review, from the point of view of zero positive points in it. A person sitting besides me in theatre was happy to see the negatives of ‘Katha Screenplay Darsakathvam Appalraju’ thrown into fires (a scene in the pre-climax of movie). Such was the level of irritation of audience.
Performance wise Sakshi Gulati was red hot, ready to reveal everything before camera while Brahmanandam did over action with Tanu Rai and Venu Madhav. It was only in the first few minutes of second half that audiences get some entertainment from Brahmi’s rowdy den else Appalraju is a complete dud with no ‘Thala’ and no ‘Thoka.’ Neither dialogues from Nilesh nor the camera work of Sudhakar Yakkanti nor music from Koti are to save this. Production values of Kiran Kumar Koneru were also very poor.
The name of Ramgopal Varma may pull good openings on first day and negative mouth publicity may harm the film from matinee of first day or morning of second day. So BO success is an out of scope subject to think or discuss about.
Final Verdict: ‘C’ grade effort from ‘A’ grade director.

Dil Raju's Multi-crore deal With Director??

Dil Raju's Multi-crore deal With Director??Money never tastes bitter for anyone, despite the blows they receive in the process of making it. With a series of serious flops, Dil Raju never stepped back in making those big budgeted flicks. Now, there comes another fresh deal with Ram Gopal Varma to make whopping crores.
According to the grapevine, Dil Raju signed a deal with Ram Gopal Varma to produce a couple of films in his direction. One film is purely for Telugu audience and the second one is a bilingual. Industry people are confirming it and are saying that it is because of this deal, RGV postponed 'KSD Appalaraju' from Feb 11th, for a smooth and safe release of 'Gaganam'. However, the travel of both these 'head-strong' persons will be like walking on a sword. As per industry talk, both the guys are publicity freaks, one copies the stories of his assistants and other sucks the energies of his directors.

Pawan Kalyan's 'Tit For Tat' to Director

Pawan Kalyan's 'Tit For Tat' to DirectorRam Gopal Varma is one man who is known for his point blank statements and though his frankness is appreciated, there are times when his lines tend to get over the line. It is heard that recently he passed a comment on Pawan Kalyan's new banner 'Pawan Kalyan Creative Works' and asked how it can be creative when Pawan is doing a remake.
Now, it is heard that the power star will be replying to this in his own way. Well, he is reportedly coming up with a new movie which is more in an experimental genre and it will not have any songs. Sources close to Pawan reveal that this would define the word 'creative' in his banner and will also answer the criticisms. Only time will tell whether it will be Pawan or RGV, who will have the last laugh…

KSD Appalraju postponed to 10th February!

KSD Appalraju postponed to 10th February!
Ram Gopal Varma’s directorial Katha Screenplay Darsakathvam Appalaraju, which was slated for a release on 4th February, is yet again postponed to 10th February.  The postponement is due to the delay in post-production works as well as the release of Jai Bolo Telangana. Though KSDA also is a hottest project and has enough attention, Varma wisely took this decision as Jai Bolo Telangana grabs much attention in the Nizam area.
However, KSDA will now lock horns with Nagarjuna starrer Gaganam, releasing on 11thFebruary. KSD Appalraju casts Sunil, Swathi, and Sakshi in the key roles. The movie is made with the hard hitting satires on film industry celebrities and media persons. KSDA has music by Koti and cinematography by Sudhakar Yakkanti
